MTN Nigeria has restored its internet services following disruptions that affected parts of Lagos State. In a message to subscribers on Saturday, the company stated:
“Dear customer, we sincerely apologise for the challenges experienced with internet services yesterday in parts of Lagos State. This has been resolved, and services are fully restored. Thank you for your understanding.”
The outage, which began on Friday, left many subscribers unable to access the internet. This led to complaints on social media platforms, with users expressing their frustration over the prolonged downtime. The disruption also impacted financial transactions, as many Nigerians rely on mobile networks for banking and payments.
In response to the service disruptions, numerous subscribers took to social media to voice their grievances. One user commented, “All of a sudden, MTN network is very poor and weak as [an] erection. Nigerian Government, you can do better.”
MTN Nigeria has faced similar challenges in the past. In February 2024, subscribers experienced significant network outages due to multiple fibre cuts, which affected voice and data services nationwide.
The recent outage underscores the critical role of reliable telecommunications infrastructure in Nigeria, especially as the country increasingly adopts cashless transactions and digital banking services.
