Applications for admission into the School of Politics, Policy and Governance for 2027 is currently ongoing with the Founder’s Scholarship available to all applicants.
The Certificate in Public Leadership & Policy program is a rigorous, hybrid program blending global and African learning, carefully selected courses that are analytically and empirically relevant to solving the continent’s most complex development problems. It runs from November to August, ten months in all, delivered as a 33-week curriculum with two scheduled breaks.
Program Details
The CPLP covers the threshold of knowledge that all persons who seek public office should have to improve the quality and effectiveness of government at every level in Africa, from the local to the national. The program is foundational, with a careful blend of global and Nigerian-based learning.
Courses introduce the theory and practice of politics, policy and leadership, with a goal toward application for the common good. The emphasis is comparative: the role and constraints of political leadership in contemporary society, spanning the economy, community, gender equity and social inclusion.

SPPG was founded in 2021 by Dr Obiageli “Oby” Ezekwesili, a renowned economic policy expert, former Minister of Minerals and of Education, former Vice President of the World Bank and co-founder of Transparency International — alongside a collegiate of competent, passionate, reform-minded individuals.
It is an unconventional school designed to attract, develop and produce a new generation of political leaders who will listen and serve the new class of citizens who know their rights. SPPG emerged in recognition of the dismal performance of public leadership in Africa as despite its wealth of natural and human resources, the continent continues to lag behind other regions on most measurable indicators of human and economic development.
