The Alliance for a Green Revolution in Africa (AGRA) is recruiting an Associate Program Officer to support the implementation of its agricultural transformation strategy in Nigeria. The position is based in Oyo/Ogun States and offers an opportunity for professionals passionate about agriculture, rural development, policy implementation, and sustainable food systems.

Reporting to the Country Programs Lead, the successful candidate will contribute to grant management, stakeholder engagement, government relations, monitoring and evaluation, and resource mobilization initiatives that strengthen Nigeria’s agricultural ecosystem.

Job Summary

As the Associate Program Officer, you will support the implementation of AGRA’s country strategy by coordinating grants, engaging key stakeholders, strengthening partnerships, supporting agricultural policy development, and ensuring effective program delivery.

The role also involves working closely with government agencies, development partners, donor organizations, financial institutions, universities, and agricultural value chain actors.

Key Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

  • Support implementation of AGRA’s country strategy and agricultural programs.
  • Identify, engage, and manage relationships with grantees and strategic partners.
  • Coordinate grant implementation and monitor project performance.
  • Support policy initiatives that improve agricultural investment and productivity.
  • Strengthen partnerships with government agencies and development organizations.
  • Facilitate market linkages for smallholder farmers.
  • Monitor program performance using data management systems, including AGRA’s monitoring platforms.
  • Ensure timely reporting and quality assurance of program activities.
  • Build networks with financial institutions, research organizations, universities, and private sector stakeholders.
  • Support monitoring, evaluation, and learning activities.
  • Prepare periodic technical and program reports.
  • Provide technical support to project partners and consortium members.

Requirements

Applicants should possess:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, Rural Development, Business Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in grant management and development programmes, particularly within Africa.
  • Knowledge of agricultural policy, rural development, and food systems.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and partnership-building skills.
  • Strong communication and reporting abilities.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Knowledge of French will be an added advantage.
