Falz, Femi Falana Join Lagos Protest Over Rising Insecurity, Demand Urgent Government Action

Falz, Femi Falana Join Citizens' Protest in Lagos

Popular rapper and activist Falz, alongside his father, renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana, joined dozens of Lagos residents on Thursday in a street protest against worsening insecurity across Nigeria.

The demonstration, which drew activists, youths and concerned citizens, focused on the growing wave of kidnappings, killings and violent attacks affecting communities in several parts of the country.

Carrying placards and chanting solidarity messages, protesters called on federal and state authorities to take stronger measures to protect lives and restore public confidence in the country’s security architecture.

Falz Speaks On Growing Security Crisis

Speaking to journalists during the protest, Falz said the country was facing an alarming deterioration in security, adding that many Nigerians now live in fear.

According to the musician, widespread corruption and poor management of public resources have contributed to the current situation.

“There is not much to be said that has not already been said,” Falz told reporters. “Apart from the insane corruption and gross mismanagement of our resources, everybody can see the worsening insecurity. It’s unbearable now.”

He lamented the frequency of kidnapping incidents and violent attacks, noting that reports of abductions and killings have become a near-daily occurrence in several states.

The entertainer referenced incidents in Zamfara, Kebbi, Katsina, Kaduna and Plateau states, as well as recent kidnapping cases in Oyo State, saying many affected families are still waiting for loved ones to return home.

‘No Nigerian Life Is More Important Than Another’

Falz argued that authorities often appear indifferent to the suffering of ordinary citizens and called for equal protection for all Nigerians regardless of social status or political influence.

“They don’t care about ordinary people, but it must be known that no Nigerian life is more important than another,” he said.

“Every single Nigerian life matters, and every single person must be cared for and protected at all costs.”

The rapper further urged the government to intensify efforts to end kidnappings and attacks targeting students and schools.

“We are here to say put an end to these kidnappings. Put an end to these killings. Schools are still open every day, students are still being kidnapped. What is going on? This has to stop and it must stop immediately.”

Protesters Link Security Concerns To Public Dissatisfaction

When asked about the political implications of the country’s challenges ahead of future elections, Falz declined to predict electoral outcomes but said public frustration was increasingly evident.

“I can’t predict who is winning or who is not winning,” he said.

“From the general mood, we can see how people are feeling. We can see the discontent and dissatisfaction with the way affairs have been managed.”

He added that leaders had been given sufficient time to demonstrate commitment to solving the country’s problems but had failed to convince many citizens that meaningful change was a priority.

Faith In Democratic Process

Despite his criticism of governance and security management, Falz maintained that he still believes in democracy and encouraged citizens to participate in the electoral process.

“I personally believe in the democratic system. I believe in the democratic process, and I’m ready on that day to exercise my franchise,” he said.

The Lagos protest adds to a growing number of demonstrations across the country as citizens continue to express concern over insecurity, economic hardship and governance issues.

Security remains one of the most pressing challenges facing Nigeria, with communities in several regions battling kidnappings, banditry and violent attacks despite ongoing government efforts to address the crisis.
