The U.S. Embassy Nigeria has announced a new job opening for the position of Agricultural Specialist at its Abuja mission, inviting qualified Nigerians and other interested candidates to apply before the June 2, 2026 deadline.
According to the vacancy announcement released by the embassy, the full-time position will be based in Abuja under the Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) office and offers an annual salary of approximately $37,955.

The Agricultural Specialist will support the United States Department of Agriculture through research, policy analysis, commodity trade reporting, and agricultural market intelligence in Nigeria.
The role also involves promoting U.S. agricultural interests, resolving trade-related issues, and maintaining relationships with government agencies and private-sector stakeholders in the agricultural industry.
The embassy said applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Agriculture, Food and Agricultural Marketing, or International Trade.
Candidates are also required to present an NYSC discharge or exemption certificate.
In addition, applicants must have at least three years of relevant experience in agricultural economics, agricultural policy, commodity trade, or marketing analysis and research, particularly in areas involving report writing and policy evaluation.
The position also requires fluency in English and a good working knowledge of French.
Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate strong knowledge of agricultural practices, government policies, trade systems, and international agricultural agreements. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook is also listed as a requirement.
The embassy noted that selected applicants must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust security clearance and may undergo background investigations and medical examinations before final appointment.
The role is permanent and carries a standard 40-hour weekly work schedule, although telework eligibility is not available for the position.
