The Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) is inviting applications for the role of Senior Analyst, Metals & Mining (Investment), a position that will support the corporation’s growing investment activities in Africa’s mining and natural resources sectors.

Role Overview: Supporting Metals & Mining Investments
The Senior Analyst will support AFC’s investment professionals in evaluating opportunities in the mining sector across the continent.
Core responsibilities include:
Conducting financial modelling and valuation analysis for project and corporate investments
Performing credit analysis and risk assessment on mining and infrastructure projects
Supporting the preparation of investment memoranda, credit papers, pitchbooks, and presentations
Assisting with transaction due diligence and deal execution processes
Monitoring portfolio performance and sector developments within Africa’s mining industry
The analyst will also help maintain databases on sector transactions, track market trends, and produce research to support AFC’s investment strategy in metals and mining.
Deal Execution and Investment Support
A major component of the role involves supporting investment teams through the entire transaction lifecycle.
Key activities include:
Preparing engagement letters, transaction proposals and financial analysis reports
Assisting with debt, equity, mergers and acquisitions, and private equity transactions
Coordinating internal investment processes and consultant engagements
Supporting the team with disbursement processes and internal approvals

CFA qualification or progress toward the designation is an advantage
Experience
3–5 years of professional experience
At least two years in investment banking, corporate finance, private equity, lending, financial advisory, or direct investing
Experience in the mining sector is considered a strong advantage
Fluency in English is required, while French language skills are considered beneficial due to AFC’s pan-African investment footprint.
