Seasoned Nigerian journalist and former Lagos Business School executive takes on strategic region-wide role

Tayo Fagbule, has stepped down as Editor of BusinessDay as of yesterday, as he embarks on a new challenge as Bureau Chief, West Africa at CNBC.

Tayo Fagbule is a distinguished figure in business journalism. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the University of Lagos and an MBA from Lagos Business School, Pan-Atlantic University.

Before leading BusinessDay, Fagbule served as MBA Director at Lagos Business School, where he combined teaching, curriculum oversight, and business problem analysis.

He also contributed as a correspondent for The Africa Report and Africa Confidential, covering business, economy, and political developments in Nigeria and West Africa.

During his tenure as editor, BusinessDay consolidated its authority in business reporting, evolving its digital offerings and deepening its coverage of markets, policy, and regional economic dynamics.

In his new role at CNBC, Fagbule will guide editorial operations over multiple West African markets, expanding the network’s reach and influence in Africa’s burgeoning business and investment environment.
