Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has reclaimed her spot in the record books, achieving a monumental Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, weighing an astonishing 8,780 kilograms (19,356 lb 9 oz).
The feat, accomplished in collaboration with Gino Nigeria, not only celebrates West Africa’s iconic dish but also underscores Baci’s unwavering commitment to elevating Nigerian cuisine on the global stage.
The record-breaking cook-off unfolded on September 12 at Eko Hotels and Suites in Victoria Island, Lagos, drawing over 20,000 enthusiastic supporters, celebrities, and food lovers who braved the tantalizing aromas for hours.

In a custom-made pot with a staggering 22,619-liter capacity, Baci and her team meticulously prepared the massive meal over nine intense hours.
The resulting culinary marvel yielded approximately 16,600 plates, distributed free to attendees in a nod to community and zero-waste principles—no grain was left behind.
Guinness World Records officially certified the achievement on September 15 via their X account, posting: “New record: Largest serving of Nigerian style jollof rice – 8,780 kg (19,356 lb 9 oz) achieved by Hilda Baci and Gino in Victoria Island, Lagos, Nigeria 🇳🇬.”
This marks Baci’s second Guinness triumph, following her groundbreaking 93-hour cooking marathon in 2023 that shattered global endurance records.
Triumph was hard-earned, however. Early reports highlighted a dramatic moment when the giant pot cracked during weighing attempts on a crane, forcing a second effort amid logistical hurdles. Undeterred, Baci’s team compiled multi-camera evidence for verification, proving resilience in the face of adversity.
