Bauchi Governorship Race: Minister Signals Interest as INEC Timetable Guides Political Transition Plans

The Special Adviser to the Minister on Media and Communications Strategy, Alkasim Abdulkadir, has confirmed that the Minister is interested in contesting the governorship seat of Bauchi State.

Abdulkadir disclosed that the minister has political ambitions to return to Bauchi State as its chief executive, stating that preparations are guided by the timetable and regulations issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“The minister is interested and aspires to run for the governorship seat of Bauchi State,” Abdulkadir said.

Addressing questions on when the minister is expected to resign from his current appointment to pursue his ambition, Abdulkadir explained that the process would be in line with INEC guidelines.

“There is a timetable released by INEC that stipulates all the rules and regulations for running; he will adhere to this,” he added.

The minister, who hails from Udubo in Gamawa Local Government Area of Bauchi State, is not new to the governorship race, having previously contested for the position.

The development adds a fresh dimension to the political landscape in Bauchi State as preparations toward the next election cycle gradually take shape.
