The Rivers State Police Command has removed two senior officers from their positions pending investigation after suspected cultists allegedly renovated a police outpost in Abuloma, Port Harcourt, and celebrated the completion of the project alongside police personnel.
The officers affected are the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Abuloma Police Division and the divisional officer overseeing the outpost, according to a statement issued by the command on Friday.
The development followed the circulation of a viral video showing individuals suspected to be members of a cult group at the facility on Thursday, October 15, 2026. The individuals were seen celebrating in front of the renovated building alongside some police officers.

“The Command strongly condemns any action or association capable of compromising the integrity, discipline and professional standards of the Nigeria Police Force or conferring legitimacy, recognition or acceptance on suspected cult groups or other unlawful organisations,” the statement said.
The investigation will examine whether the renovation was authorised, whether the necessary approvals were obtained, and whether appropriate checks were conducted on the individuals or groups responsible for funding the work.
It will also establish whether police officers involved in the incident acted in breach of their duties or compromised the reputation of the force.
