Rapper Kodak Black has been arrested in Florida on drug trafficking charges, inmate records show. The 28-year-old rapper whose real name is Bill Kapri who was booked on Wednesday into the Orange County is being held without bond.

Black, who has a history of drug-related charges, is facing a new charge of trafficking 10g of MDMA, according to jail records.

Trafficking any amount equal to or more than 10g of MDMA, a synthetic drug with stimulant and hallucinogenic properties, is considered a serious first-degree felony in the state of Florida and carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of three years and a fine of $50,000.

Wednesday’s arrest is related to a November 2025 incident that occurred outside the Orlando non-profit Children’s Safety Village, according to an affidavit seen by local outlet Wesh. Authorities were called to the location after reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they spotted two vehicles in the parking lot. After detecting the smell of marijuana, the officers searched the cars.

Kodak Black approached the officers amid their search, during which they discovered a pair of pink scissors and rings that allegedly matched items seen in a photo on the rapper’s Instagram a week prior. They allegedly also uncovered drugs inside the vehicles.

The “Wake Up in the Sky” artist’s lawyer, Bradford Cohen, told TMZ that one of the vehicles searched by authorities had only one passenger who wasn’t Black. During their search, he said that officers found a bag containing a bottle of prescription cough syrup, which they alleged had Kodak’s fingerprint on it.

Cohen slammed the arrest as a “coordinated surrender,” saying that the trafficking charges had a “weak legal basis” and “should have never been filed.”

“We look forward to yet another fruitful resolution to another case that should have never been filed,” he said.
