The remarkable achievement has drawn national recognition, with the Minister of Youth Development, Ayodele Olawande, congratulating the teenager and describing her accomplishment as an inspiration to young Nigerians.

He noted that her achievement should encourage other young people across the country to pursue their ambitions with determination, regardless of their age.
Olawande also acknowledged the vital role played by Okundaye’s parents, teachers, and mentors, emphasizing that their guidance, encouragement, and sacrifices contributed significantly to her success.
According to the minister, the milestone reinforces the importance of creating an environment where talented young Nigerians can thrive.
He reiterated the Ministry of Youth Development’s commitment to supporting initiatives and opportunities that empower young people to reach their full potential.
Okundaye’s accomplishment surpasses the previous national record established in 2022 by Jonathan Adewale, who became Nigeria’s youngest chartered accountant at the age of 17.
Earning the ICAN chartered accountancy qualification is widely regarded as one of Nigeria’s most rigorous professional achievements.
The certification typically requires years of intensive preparation and examination, making Okundaye’s success at just 16 years old an exceptional milestone in the country’s educational and professional landscape.
Her achievement is expected to serve as a source of inspiration for aspiring professionals and further highlight the capabilities of Nigeria’s young talents.
