Naira – Dollar Rate (September 4, 2026): Naira Strengthens to N1,322.50 at Official Market, Parallel Rate Holds at N1,395

The naira strengthened marginally against the US dollar at the official foreign exchange market on Thursday, while the currency held steady in the parallel market.

At the Nigerian Autonomous Foreign Exchange Market (NAFEM), the naira closed at N1,322.50/$1 on September 3, 2026, compared with N1,324.50/$1 a day earlier, according to CBN data.

The N2.00 gain represents a 0.15% appreciation against the dollar at the official window.

The naira was, however, unchanged in the parallel market on September 4, with the dollar trading at N1,395/$1, the same rate recorded the previous day, according to Bureau de Change operators.

The pound traded at N1,880/£1, compared with N1,875/£1 previously, representing a N5, or 0.27%, decline in the naira’s value. The euro remained unchanged at N1,570/€1, while the Canadian dollar also held at N1,055/C$1.
