The Lagos State Government has unveiled a comprehensive traffic diversion plan to facilitate technical checks, duct calibration, and land route repairs across designated locations on Lagos Island. The repair activities are set to commence on Friday, January 17, 2025, and are expected to conclude on Friday, January 31, 2025.

Affected Locations and Timelines

The following routes will be partially closed to accommodate the repair work:

  1. Traffic Diversion
    • Duration: Friday, January 17 – Friday, January 31, 2025
    • Scope: Repair work will be carried out along the road median with no expected traffic disruption.
  2. Eko Hotel Roundabout
    • Date: Sunday, January 19, 2025
    • Scope: Traffic from Eko Hotel heading towards Adetokunbo Ademola will be rerouted into two lanes around the roundabout to ensure safe and efficient work operations.
  3. Officer’s Mess Inward Independence Bridge
    • Date: Sunday, January 19, 2025
    • Scope: Vehicles heading towards Independence Bridge will be diverted to the two outermost lanes farther from the kerb.
  4. Ajose Adeogun to Ligali Ayorinde
    • Duration: Monday, January 20 – Friday, January 24, 2025
    • Scope: Traffic will be restricted to two lanes as motorists approach Ligali Ayorinde Junction, inward Oniru Beach, to address repairs on a manhole at the junction.
  5. Ligali Ayorinde to the End of Landmark
    • Duration: Saturday, January 25 – Friday, January 31, 2025
    • Scope: Repairs will occur on the road setback, with minimal traffic impact anticipated.

Traffic Management Measures

The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Hon. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, has assured residents that traffic management officers will be stationed along the affected routes to minimize inconvenience and manage vehicular movements effectively.
