Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has stated that his administration is dedicated to fostering a stronger bilateral relationship with Canada, with a focus on expanding trade, investment, and innovative collaborations.
Governor Sanwo-Olu conveyed this assurance during a reception for Mr. Carlos Roja-Arbulu, the newly appointed Deputy High Commissioner of Canada to Nigeria, at Lagos House on Wednesday.
The governor underscored the significance of strengthening trade relations with Canada, with a particular focus on facilitating increased engagement between businesses in both regions.

He stated that Lagos is dedicated to ensuring food security through innovative and creative approaches, recognizing the challenges posed by its limited land area and large population.
Governor Sanwo-Olu stressed the importance of tackling climate change. He assured the High Commissioner that Lagos is ready to support business growth by addressing regulatory challenges and promoting value addition.
“We are ready to engage with Canada and promote mutual economic benefits.
“Lagos wants to ship to Canada.
“We are willing to further engage and create an environment where businesses can do well, where people see opportunities and take them, an environment where there is value addition on both sides and real partnerships are created,” the governor noted.
Mr. Roja-Arbulu, in his response, articulated that the objective of his visit was to reinforce Canada’s enduring relationship with Nigeria, recognizing the pivotal role of Lagos State in driving this partnership forward.
He affirmed Canada’s commitment to cultivating robust economic cooperation with Nigeria, particularly in the realms of trade, investment, and innovation.
