The long-awaited all-British heavyweight showdown between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua is “100%” set to happen, according to Fury’s manager Spencer Brown, with Cardiff and Wembley among three venues still being considered.
The fight has remained in negotiations in recent months, with Joshua’s camp pushing for the blockbuster bout to take place in the UK.
Brown said negotiations were moving closer to an agreement and suggested December could be the preferred date for the fight.
“It’s inching closer and it looks like it could be the British Boxing Bonanza that we all hoped for taking place in Britain,” Brown told Sky Sports.
“Three venues are still under consideration with Cardiff and Wembley still in the running.”
According to Brown, both November and December remain possible, but Fury’s team favours December.
“November and December are both in play but we like December as an option, everyone would be winding up work for the holidays, it would be the best Christmas party in the world,” he said.
Brown expressed strong confidence that the fight would eventually be agreed, despite negotiations between the different parties still being ongoing.
“I’m 100% that the fight will happen.
“Everyone is still in negotiations, Eddie Hearn and Frank Warren are both onboard but I’m fully confident we can get it done, of course the final say will be with Turki Al-Sheikh, Netflix and SELA but we are on track to getting it done.”
Joshua’s promoter, Eddie Hearn, has also reiterated his determination to stage the fight before a British audience.
“We continue to do everything we can to bring this fight to the UK. We are in constant communication with Netflix and SELA – keep your fingers crossed,” Hearn said.
Fury and Joshua have been linked with a potential showdown for years, but the bout has repeatedly failed to materialise.
