The Federal Government has declared that the Independence Bridge, specifically the Marina-bound lane, will be closed starting April 1 for critical maintenance and rehabilitation works. The closure, announced on Monday by Mrs. Olukorede Kesha, the Federal Controller of Works in Lagos, will extend until the end of May 2025.
According to Mrs. Kesha, the shutdown will disrupt traffic flow from Ahmadu Bello Way and Adeola Odeku heading towards Marina, Eko Bridge, and Onikan via Zone 2. She strongly recommended that drivers plan their trips in advance and opt for alternative routes to minimize congestion during this period.
The Federal Controller expressed regret for any inconvenience caused by the closure and extended gratitude to the public for their patience and support as the government undertakes these essential repairs to enhance the safety and reliability of the road network.
