FIFA-licensed football agent John Shittu has issued a formal legal demand to former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia, seeking a full retraction and apology over alleged defamatory statements made against him about Nigeria’s 2008 Olympic football campaign.

Shittu who represents Mikel Obi in a letter dated and signed by his legal representatives, categorically denied Siasia’s claim that he offered Siasia a bribe of €50,000 to secure John Obi Mikel’s inclusion in the Nigeria U-23 team for the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing.

Siasia had made the allegations during a recent interview where he stated, “(During qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics) Mikel’s agent called that Mikel cannot come. and Mikel wasn’t the starter at Chelsea then.

“He was on the bench; he wasn’t the starter and I told him, we only have one game against Ghana to play Please, come and help us to play like it and that was it.

I said, if he doesn’t come, he won’t go anywhere, So Mikel refused to come, he said he’s playing in Chelsea.

We went to Ghana, we needed a draw, right?, they brought a Asamoah Gyan, everybody came, nothing happened we Played very well, and on the day we qualified.

We’re going to the World Cup, the Olympics, Mikel wants to come and play, his agent said, we’re giving you €50,000 that he should come and play.
I said, Oga, it’s not about €50,000, you didn’t play to qualify so I will have to take out someone that qualified us and bring you in.

” it’s not going to happen, man,, even if you go anywhere, it’s not going to work for you because the team will not go anywhere because you are doing the wrong thing.”
