Workers at Brazil’s state-controlled oil producer Petrobras are set to launch a nationwide strike on Monday after rejecting the company’s latest offer in ongoing labour negotiations.
The announcement was made on Wednesday by the Unified Oil Workers Federation (FUP), which represents employees of the oil major. According to the union, Petrobras’ second counterproposal for a new labour agreement was considered inadequate, prompting members to approve a walkout.
The union did not immediately disclose how long the action is expected to last or what operational impact it could have on Petrobras’ oil production, refining, and fuel distribution activities.
Petrobras has been in negotiations with workers over salary adjustments and employment conditions. The company has not yet issued a formal reaction to the planned strike.
