Arsenal Overcome Real Madrid to Reach First UCL Semis Since 2009

Arsenal held off Real Madrid at the Estadio Santiago Bernabau in the second leg of their UEFA champions league quarter final clash to reach their first UCL semi finals since the 2008/2009 season.

The Gunners who had already done the bulk of the job by winning the reverse fixture at the Emirates 3-0 won on the night at the rocking Santiago Bernabau.

Much of the noise in the build up to the game had been about Madrid’s ability to stage a comeback in the tie as they have done in recent years.

However, Arsenal were unfazed by that and gave a good account of themselves with Bukayo Saka’s first half penalty miss eventually not counting for much as the Gunners talisman gave Arsenal the lead on the night before Madrid equalized through vinicius junior, Gabriel Martinelli scored a stoppage time winner to seal the tie.

In the night’s other tie, Inter Milan sealed their place in the semis by triumphing 4-3 on aggregate over Bayern Munich.

Arsenal would now face Paris Saint Germain in the semi finals while Inter Milan face off with Barcelona.
