Chelsea started the game with a better rhythm than Arsenal. The men in blues creating good chances. Noni Madueke with a glancing header, Malo Gusto struck the crossbar, and Cole Palmer’s 25-yard strike was saved by an acrobatic David Raya. All the close calls contributed to a tense game as both sides gave their best.
Arsenal had the services of Martin Odegaard and Declan Rice post their injuries scare. The team in red could finally field their strongest XI against Chelsea. The Gunners started to find their feet as the game progressed with Odegaard showcasing what The Gunners were missing without him – creative outlet. It was the captain who set up the breakthrough goal for Arsenal when his dipping cross found Martinelli. The Brazilian took a fiery shot from a tight angle near the post to find the back of the net.
Chelsea were quick to respond as they equalised 10 minutes later. Pedro Neto orchestrated the equaliser by beating Timber to find the bottom corner with a powerful strike. The home fans were jubilant and coach Maresca was pumped at the touchline.

The scoreline read 1-1 in the final quarter of the match resulting in a tense finish. Both sides pushed for a winning goal as the game became more box-to-box play. Arsenal had the best chance to win it when Odegaard’s pass found Saliba in an advanced position who found Trossard in the penalty area. Unfortunately, Trossard miscued and sent the ball wide. Havertz who was in a better position to score must be rueing the missed opportunity. Chelsea defended well to keep Arsenal at bay.
Arsenal title challenge is slipping away?
The draw leaves both sides nine points adrift of Liverpool. Maresca would be the happier of the two coaches, in his first year with Chelsea, they’re already playing some delightful football. Arteta and Arsenal failing to take advantage of Manchester City’s downturn in form must be frustrating.
