Apple has unveiled a new 14-inch MacBook Pro powered by its M6 chip, promising faster processing, improved graphics, enhanced on-device artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities and longer battery life.

The new MacBook Pro features an advanced 12-core CPU, which Apple says includes the world’s fastest CPU core, alongside a 12-core GPU designed to deliver improved performance for everyday productivity, creative projects and demanding professional workloads.

According to Apple, the M6 chip delivers up to 30% faster graphics performance and up to 25% faster AI workloads compared with the previous-generation M5 chip. For users upgrading from an M1-powered MacBook Pro, graphics performance can be up to 11 times faster, while AI performance can improve by up to 13 times.

The improvements position the new MacBook Pro as an option for professionals, developers, content creators, business users and students who need greater computing power for increasingly demanding applications.

Apple expands on-device AI capabilities

A major focus of the M6 chip is artificial intelligence, with Apple introducing additional Neural Accelerators in the GPU and a dual 16-core Neural Engine to improve AI processing.

The hardware is designed to support Apple Intelligence features across macOS and compatible applications, as well as the local execution of large language models (LLMs).

Running AI models directly on the device can help users process information without sending every request to external servers, supporting privacy while reducing dependence on cloud-based computing for compatible workloads.

The expanded AI capabilities could also benefit developers and other professionals working with AI-powered applications, image generation, coding assistants and other computationally intensive tools.

Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and faster storage

The new 14-inch MacBook Pro introduces Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, providing updated wireless connectivity for compatible networks and accessories.

Apple has also highlighted faster storage designed to improve workflows involving large files, project exports and demanding AI applications.

The laptop retains a range of premium features, including a Liquid Retina XDR display with an optional nano-texture finish, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera and a six-speaker sound system.

It also includes a wide selection of ports, allowing users to connect peripherals and external displays for professional and creative work.

MacBook Pro promises up to 24 hours of battery life

Apple says the new MacBook Pro offers up to 24 hours of battery life, allowing users to work on the move without frequently searching for a power outlet.

The company also says the device delivers consistent performance whether connected to power or running on battery, an important consideration for users handling demanding workloads away from their desks.

The laptop will run macOS 27, combining the M6 chip’s hardware capabilities with Apple’s latest operating system features.

MacBook Pro M6 price and availability

Apple says the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6 will be available in space black and silver. Pre-orders are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, with availability starting Friday, November 6, 2026.
