SoftBank-backed fintech company OPay has raised $304 million in its initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, securing a valuation of approximately $4 billion.

The company sold 16 million American depositary shares (ADS) at $19 each, Reuters reported on Friday, October 30, 2026. The offer price was at the lower end of its targeted range of $19 to $21 per share.

OPay is expected to list on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) under the ticker symbol OPAY, marking a major milestone for the fintech, which has built a substantial presence in Nigeria’s digital payments market.

The IPO comes amid a challenging environment for new stock market listings, with persistent inflation, volatility in financial markets and a selloff in artificial intelligence-related stocks weighing on investor sentiment.

OPay Targets $4 billion Valuation

According to OPay’s IPO prospectus, the fintech had approximately 50 million monthly active users as of July 31, 2026, highlighting the scale of its operations across its markets.

The company previously raised $400 million in 2021 at a valuation of $2 billion. Its latest IPO valuation of approximately $4 billion represents a doubling of that figure in five years.

Japanese investment conglomerate SoftBank, through its investment entities, held a 6.6% stake in OPay before the IPO, according to the company’s filing.

Citigroup, Deutsche Bank, Standard Bank and China International Capital Corporation (CICC) are also among the underwriters managing the offering.

The $304 million fundraising provides OPay with access to public capital markets as it seeks to strengthen its position in the rapidly expanding digital finance industry.
