Nestoil Group has announced an opportunity for a Senior Systems Administrator to join its Information and Communication Technology (ICT) team in Lagos, Nigeria.

The role is designed for an experienced IT professional with strong expertise in Microsoft technologies, enterprise infrastructure, systems administration, cybersecurity, virtualization and cloud services.

The successful candidate will report to the Head, ICT Systems and will be responsible for maintaining and improving the organization’s technology infrastructure while supporting secure, reliable and highly available IT services.

Senior Systems Administrator Job at Nestoil

The Senior Systems Administrator will play a key role in Nestoil’s ICT operations, handling complex technical issues, supporting other system administrators and helping to deliver major infrastructure projects.

The position involves managing both physical and virtualized infrastructure and providing technical support across Microsoft and other data-centre technologies.

The successful candidate will also contribute to protecting the company’s computing environment, improving system performance and ensuring that critical IT services remain available.

Key Responsibilities

The Senior Systems Administrator will be responsible for a wide range of infrastructure and systems administration duties, including:

  • Managing Microsoft 365 communication and collaboration services, including Microsoft Teams, Exchange and SharePoint.
  • Managing device enrolment, compliance and configuration.
  • Implementing and administering Conditional Access and Mobile Application Management.
  • Managing Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies.
  • Identifying security risks within Microsoft 365 and recommending appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Supporting hybrid Microsoft environments.
  • Monitoring resource utilization and preparing performance reports.
  • Optimizing network infrastructure for performance, availability and security.
  • Planning the replacement of obsolete or end-of-life infrastructure.
  • Supporting and maintaining Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) environments.
  • Managing standardized desktop templates, application delivery, antivirus and related infrastructure.
  • Maintaining configuration management systems, Windows images, automated software deployment and patch management.
  • Managing Veeam cloud and on-premises backup infrastructure.
  • Maintaining Active Directory Group Policy Objects used to secure and configure enterprise computing systems.
  • Implementing role-based access control across enterprise computing solutions.
  • Developing and maintaining technical documentation, standard operating procedures and IT policies.
  • Working with application developers and third-party vendors on software and virtualized application deployments.
  • Supporting enterprise networks, servers and storage infrastructure.
  • Managing Microsoft and Linux infrastructure.
  • Protecting company systems and data through security solutions, backup systems, redundancy and disaster recovery measures.
  • Supporting the asset lifecycle process, including technology planning and replacement recommendations.
  • Working with vendors on technology changes, licensing and contracts.
  • Analysing infrastructure performance and recommending improvements.

Educational Requirements

Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.

Knowledge of VMware and virtual server administration is also required, alongside working knowledge of NAS and SAN storage environments.

The successful applicant should be capable of identifying, evaluating and remediating security vulnerabilities affecting enterprise systems.
