The Tony Elumelu Foundation is recruiting for Brand Officer, Research Manager, and Alumni & Mentorship Officer positions in Lagos, with varying experience requirements of up to 10 years.

1. Brand Officer

Responsibilities

The role involves:

  • Creating visual assets for social media, reports, presentations, flyers and events.
  • Supporting storytelling initiatives highlighting TEF’s programmes and impact.
  • Assisting with communication campaigns for programme launches and events.
  • Ensuring compliance with the Foundation’s brand guidelines.
  • Translating brand and programme strategies into visual concepts.
  • Supporting content and campaigns featuring entrepreneurs, partners and programmes.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Branding, Mass Communication or a related discipline.
  • At least five years of experience in brand management, communications or marketing.
  • Experience in a foundation, NGO, development organisation or agency is an advantage.
  • Strong knowledge of brand management and purpose-driven storytelling.
  • Excellent writing, editing and verbal communication skills.
  • An understanding of digital and social media platforms.
  • The ability to work across different cultures and geographies.

2. Research Manager

The Research Manager will lead efforts to reposition the Africapitalism Institute as a leading pan-African research and thought-leadership platform.

The position will focus on research that supports Africapitalism, entrepreneurship, private-sector-led growth and inclusive economic development across Africa.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead the strategic revival and operation of the Africapitalism Institute.
  • Develop Africapitalism-focused curricula and learning frameworks.
  • Translate research, data and case studies into academic materials.
  • Develop research methodologies using quantitative and qualitative approaches.
  • Analyse Foundation and external datasets to generate economic and enterprise insights.
  • Engage policymakers, academics, think tanks, development partners and multilateral organisations.
  • Support fundraising through grants, commissioned research and strategic partnerships.

Requirements

Candidates should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Development Economics, Public Policy, Political Economy, Business, Statistics or a related field.
  • A current or recent academic appointment at a university or research institution is highly desirable.
  • At least 10 years of experience in academic, policy or applied research.
  • Experience designing surveys and managing large datasets.
  • Experience conducting econometric analysis.
  • Proficiency in Stata, SPSS or equivalent research tools.

3. Alumni & Mentorship Officer

The Alumni & Mentorship Officer will coordinate TEF’s alumni engagement and mentorship programmes.

The role involves supporting entrepreneurs after funding while helping to strengthen the Foundation’s network of alumni and mentors across Africa.

Responsibilities

Key duties include:

  • Maintaining a centralised database of TEF alumni and their businesses.
  • Tracking indicators such as revenue growth, job creation, social impact and funding raised.
  • Recruiting and screening mentors from Africa and other parts of the world.
  • Implementing alumni engagement initiatives.
  • Identifying high-impact alumni for recognition and storytelling.
  • Coordinating alumni participation in events and regional activities.
  • Organising mentorship events, workshops, masterclasses and meetups.
  • Developing initiatives focused on business growth, investor readiness and market access.
  • Engaging Hub Leads across African countries and Nigerian states.
  • Supporting Hub Lead elections, performance monitoring and local alumni activities.

Requirements

Applicants should have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies or a related field.
  • A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • Four to seven years of experience in programme management, alumni relations or mentorship coordination.
  • Knowledge of African entrepreneurship ecosystems and SME development.
  • Experience managing entrepreneurship, mentorship programmes or networks is an advantage.
