Iranian forces launched attacks against U.S. military sites in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan on Tuesday in retaliation for fresh American strikes on military targets inside Iran, escalating fears that the war could disrupt global energy supplies and maritime trade.
According to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards, infrastructure linked to U.S. technology company Amazon in Bahrain was targeted in retaliation for what Tehran described as an American strike on the construction site of its planned Darkhovin nuclear power plant. Iranian state media also reported attacks on accommodation facilities used by U.S. military personnel at Bahrain’s Sheikh Isa Air Base.
The Iranian military also claimed responsibility for drone attacks on three U.S. military bases in Kuwait, while the Revolutionary Guards said they had targeted an American military installation in Jordan.
The latest exchange marked the 10th consecutive night of military action between the two countries, with U.S. forces striking Iranian military command centres, missile and drone launch facilities, maritime assets and air defence systems across southern and western Iran. Iranian state media reported explosions around Shiraz, Konarak, Chabahar and Khorramabad following the attacks.
President Donald Trump said the strikes were carried out in response to the deaths of American troops. “Every time Iran kills an American Soldier they will pay for that killing many times over!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Diplomatic Efforts Continue
A senior Iranian official told Reuters that Tehran had received a proposal for a 10-day ceasefire from international mediators aimed at reviving last month’s interim peace agreement.
Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni also travelled to Pakistan to continue mediation efforts, while Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich said Israel had not joined the latest U.S. strikes but remained prepared for any scenario.
Meanwhile, the U.S. State Department issued a fresh worldwide security alert for American citizens, citing heightened tensions across the Middle East.
