APC Confirms Tinubu-Shettima Ticket for 2027 Presidential Election

Tinubu retains Shettima as running mate as APC submits forms to INEC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has officially confirmed that Vice President Kashim Shettima will remain President Bola Tinubu’s running mate in the 2027 presidential election, bringing an end to months of political speculation over the composition of the party’s presidential ticket.

The confirmation came on Friday during the formal presentation of the APC presidential nomination forms at the party’s national headquarters in Abuja, ahead of the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) deadline for the submission of candidates.

The nomination documents were presented on behalf of the president by his Special Adviser on Political Matters, Ibrahim Masari, and received by APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda. The ceremony was attended by governors elected on the APC platform, members of the National Assembly, ministers, party executives, state chairmen, and other senior stakeholders.

The submission ensures that the Tinubu-Shettima ticket will represent the APC in the 2027 presidential election, subject to INEC’s final verification process.

APC Urges Unity Ahead of 2027 Poll

Speaking during the event, APC National Organising Secretary Sulaiman Argungu described the ceremony as the formal presentation of the party’s completed nomination forms for both its presidential and vice-presidential candidates.

He noted that President Tinubu had earlier secured the party’s presidential nomination through the APC primary election and called on party members to remain united as preparations intensify for the general election.

Speaking on behalf of APC governors, Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma said the governors remained committed to supporting both the party and President Tinubu. According to him, the successful completion of the party’s nomination process demonstrated the APC’s readiness for the next electoral cycle.

Uzodimma also encouraged party members nationwide to work together in mobilising support for all APC candidates, expressing confidence that the ruling party would retain power in 2027.

Party Chairman Highlights Administration’s Record

Receiving the nomination forms, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda said the event reflected the confidence the party has in the Tinubu administration.

He pointed to several initiatives undertaken by the government, including the student loan programme, infrastructure development and agricultural interventions, describing them as achievements the APC would campaign on during the election season.

Yilwatda urged governors across the country’s six geopolitical zones to compete in delivering the highest number of votes for the party during the election.

He expressed optimism that the administration’s performance would strengthen the APC’s re-election campaign. Speaking with journalists after the ceremony, APC National Publicity Secretary Felix Morka confirmed that President Tinubu remains the party’s presidential candidate while Vice President Kashim Shettima has been retained as the vice-presidential candidate.

The announcement effectively settles months of speculation regarding Shettima’s political future and confirms that the APC will head into the 2027 presidential election with the same ticket that secured victory in the 2023 general election.

With the nomination forms now submitted ahead of INEC’s deadline, the APC has formally completed a major step in its preparations for the next presidential contest.
