GVA is a subsidiary of CANAL+ Group and a telecom operator acting in the provision of very high-speed internet access.
It builds, operates and markets its own fiber-to-the-home network under the CANALBOX brand. GVA launched its activities in 2017, and has since been operating in 10 countries (Gabon, Togo, Congo, Ivory Coast, Rwanda, Burkina Faso, Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda) and 15 cities (Libreville, Port-Gentil, Lomé, Pointe-Noire, Brazzaville, Abidjan, Kigali, Rubavu, Ouagadougou, Bobo-Dioulasso, Kinshasa, Goma, Kampala, Cotonou, Ibadan).
As part of its expansion in Nigeria, with operations already launched in Ibadan and incoming activity in Lagos, GVA is looking for a Commercial & Marketing Director.
Responsibilities
The Commercial & Marketing Director is responsible for defining, deploying, and steering Group Vivendi Africa’s (GVA) commercial and marketing strategy across subsidiaries, particularly during launch and growth phases.
The role focuses on building high-performing sales and marketing teams, developing robust distribution networks, driving revenue growth, strengthening brand positioning, and ensuring harmonized commercial processes across English-speaking African markets.

Key Responsibilities
1. Sales & Marketing Strategy
Define and execute GVA’s commercial and marketing strategy across English-speaking Africa in alignment with the Group’s master plan.
Translate corporate strategy into actionable commercial and marketing roadmaps for subsidiaries in launch and operational phases.
Proposes continuous improvements to GVA’s commercial model based on market performance, customer insights, and competitive intelligence.
Contribute to brand positioning and go-to-market strategies in collaboration with Group Marketing.
2. Recruitment, Training, and Team Leadership
Recruit, structure, and develop B2C and B2B commercial and marketing teams in line with GVA’s growth objectives.
Build sales and marketing capabilities within subsidiaries, particularly during launch phases.
Formalize commercial and marketing reference documentation, including front- and back office processes, tools, and sales methodologies.
Design and deliver training programs for sales managers and teams on sales techniques, customer acquisition, and GVA’s operational and commercial procedures.
3. Distribution Network & Channel Development
Design, establish, and scale multi-channel distribution and renewal networks.
Develop and manage direct and indirect sales channels, including: o Physical distribution networks o Digital and online channels o Mobile money and alternative payment platforms
Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships and commission structures with distributors and commercial partners.
Ensure effective coordination with internal stakeholders (IT, Finance, Operations, Customer Experience) to support commercial execution.
4. Commercial Performance & Revenue Management
Define revenue targets, KPIs, and performance objectives for subsidiaries and commercial teams.
Monitor commercial and marketing performance through dashboards, reporting tools, and regular performance reviews.
Drive sales acceleration initiatives, sales animation programs, and pre-sales support.
Chair commercial committees and lead business reviews and commercial seminars
5. Marketing Execution & Customer Insights
Contribute to marketing strategy development by providing structured customer and market feedback.
Strengthening customer knowledge and segmentation to support targeted marketing campaigns.
Collaborate with marketing teams on product launches, promotions, and customer acquisition initiatives.
Identify opportunities for partnerships with integrators, business introducers, and ecosystem players to enhance market reach.
6. Processes, Quality, and Governance
Identify and formalize best practices in commercial and marketing operations across subsidiaries.
Harmonize commercial and marketing procedures to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance with Group standards.
Commercial audit processes within subsidiaries and ensure corrective actions where required.
Lead and support the deployment and adoption of GVA’s CRM tools across all subsidiaries to improve sales effectiveness and customer relationship management.
Requirements
