TLG Capital is seeking a Portfolio Monitoring Manager to lead monitoring, performance tracking and investor reporting across its African portfolio.
Role Purpose
The role spans TLG’s funds Africa Growth Impact Fund I, Africa Growth Impact Fund II, and other vehicles managed by the platform and ensures accurate, timely reporting at the portfolio company and fund level.
The role works closely with the investment, marketing, middle office, and ESG & impact teams to maintain information flows from portfolio companies to TLG’s management and investors.

This is a hands-on role for a self-starter who takes ownership and is comfortable working with imperfect or incomplete information. The successful candidate brings strong financial analysis, discipline to manage concurrent reporting cycles across multiple funds, and the judgment to turn data into investor-ready outputs.

Key Responsibilities
1. Portfolio Monitoring
Monitoring portfolio company financial and operational performance across TLG’s funds, including:
- Tracking key financial indicators and covenant compliance.
- Reviewing monthly, quarterly and annual financials submitted by portfolio companies.
- Analysing performance against budgets, forecasts and investment-case assumptions, and flagging early warning signs of underperformance, liquidity pressure or operational stress for escalation.
- Running weekly, monthly and quarterly check-ins with portfolio companies to keep information flows and reporting compliance on track.
- Tracking deadlines and portfolio companies for timely submission.
- Preparing portfolio dashboards, variance analysis and management reports for internal review.
2. Investor Reporting
Coordinating and delivering investor reporting across TLG’s funds:
- Tracking all reporting requirements under TLG’s investor side letters and LPAs and ensuring they are met on time across each fund.
- Coordinating the collection of financial, operational, ESG and impact data from portfolio companies.
- Preparing quarterly and annual investor reports, ad-hoc updates and capital-call disclosures.
- Ensuring portfolio data in investor reporting packs is consistent, accurate and complete.
- Responding to investor information requests with the wider TLG team.

3. Portfolio Company Support
Working hands-on with investee teams to strengthen reporting and management discipline:
- Helping portfolio companies improve financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting and management information systems.
- Establishing KPIs and performance-tracking systems with management teams.
- Supporting financial and operational updates for lenders, investors and boards, and coordinating external advisers or technical-assistance providers when specialist input is needed.
- Contributing to value-creation initiatives where opportunities arise, and engaging directly with portfolio company management, boards and shareholders.
4. Other
The Portfolio Monitoring Manager may also be asked to support the broader investment process — including due diligence on new opportunities, analysing performance of prospective investees, and helping to shape financial covenants, reporting requirements and post-investment monitoring arrangements.

Qualifications and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration or a related field.
- Professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, CPA, CFA or equivalent preferred.

Professional Experience
- 5–8 years of relevant experience in portfolio management, financial analysis, transaction services, audit, corporate finance, investment management, private credit, private equity or SME advisory.
- Track record reviewing financial statements, management accounts, budgets, cash-flow forecasts and financial models.
- Experience coordinating investor, board or lender reporting.
- Experience with SMEs or growth-stage businesses in emerging markets, preferably Africa.
- Prior experience at a fund, DFI-backed vehicle, private equity firm, private credit fund, SME lender or portfolio operations team.
- Familiarity with ESG, impact or DFI reporting is a plus.
Technical Skills
- Financial-statement analysis: budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis and management reporting.
- Comfort building financial models in Excel.
- Able to design practical reporting templates, dashboards and monitoring tools.
- Clear written communication, including concise reports and investor-facing materials.
- Familiarity with accounting systems, ERP tools or BI dashboards is a plus.
