Trump Urges Iran to Release Eight Women Facing Execution Ahead of US-Iran Talks

Trump Iran war

US President Donald Trump has called for the release of eight Iranian women facing death by hanging, stating it would be a “great start to our (Iran and US) negotiations”.

In a statement on his Truth Social page on Tuesday, President Truth said,  “To the Iranian leaders, who will soon be in negotiations with my representatives: I would greatly appreciate the release of these women. I am sure that they will respect the fact that you did so.

“Please do them no harm! Would be a great start to our negotiations!!! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”

Ongoing US-Iran Negotiations

Ongoing negotiations between the United States and Iran in April 2026 remain highly fragile, shaped by rising tensions and limited diplomatic progress. Talks, which have moved across intermediated channels in places like Islamabad and Oman, are aimed at preventing further escalation while addressing Iran’s nuclear programme, sanctions relief, and broader regional security concerns.

However, recent developments particularly the U.S. seizure of an Iranian cargo vessel and heightened naval activity around the Strait of Hormuz have strained trust and pushed negotiations to the brink. Tehran has reacted sharply, signalling that continued military pressure could undermine its willingness to remain engaged in dialogue.

At the core of the impasse are deep disagreements over the scope of any potential agreement. The US is pushing for a comprehensive deal that goes beyond nuclear restrictions to include Iran’s ballistic missile programme and regional influence, while Iran insists negotiations should remain narrowly focused on sanctions relief and nuclear compliance.
