Ukraine’s air defense forces reported intercepting the majority of a large-scale overnight aerial assault launched by Russian forces, involving a combination of ballistic missiles and hundreds of attack drones.
According to Ukraine’s Air Force, the हमला began late on April 14 and continued into the early hours of April 15.
Russian forces deployed three Iskander-M ballistic missiles from the Rostov region, alongside a total of 324 drones of various types.
Officials indicated that approximately 250 of these were Shahed-type strike drones, with others including Gerbera and Italmas models.
Ukrainian defenses responded using a coordinated mix of fighter aviation, anti-aircraft missile systems, electronic warfare units, drone countermeasures, and mobile response teams.
By 7 a.m. local time, authorities reported that 309 of the incoming drones had been successfully intercepted or otherwise neutralized across multiple regions, including the north, south, east, and central parts of the country.
Despite the high interception rate, impacts were recorded. Ballistic missile strikes and at least 13 drones hit targets across nine locations.
Debris from intercepted aerial threats was also reported in 10 separate areas.
Officials cautioned that some hostile drones remained in Ukrainian airspace as of the morning update, urging residents to follow safety protocols.
Regional Impact and Casualties
Several regions reported damage and casualties following the overnight strikes:
- In Dnipro, a drone strike triggered a fire in an administrative building. Local authorities confirmed that a 29-year-old woman sustained injuries.
- In Cherkasy and surrounding areas, preliminary reports indicated that three individuals were injured following drone attacks.
- In Zaporizhzhia, early morning strikes caused multiple fires across the city. Authorities confirmed at least one fatality.
Emergency services continue to assess damage and respond to affected sites.
