Elon Musk’s social media platform, X, experienced a widespread service disruption on Monday, affecting users in Nigeria and several other countries across multiple continents.

The outage left thousands unable to access the platform through both its mobile application and desktop website, with many users reporting frozen screens and repeated error messages.

Users Unable to Load Feeds

The disruption began earlier in the day, as users attempting to log in were met with blank screens or a stalled loading page displaying the X logo.

Others who briefly accessed their accounts encountered an error notification reading, “Something went wrong.

Try reloading,” preventing them from refreshing timelines, making posts, or engaging with content.

As of the time of filing this report, the company had not released an official explanation for the downtime or provided an estimated timeline for full restoration of services.

Downdetector Shows Global Spike in Complaints

Data from outage-tracking platform Downdetector indicated a sharp rise in complaints, suggesting the issue was not isolated to one region.

Users in Nigeria, Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, Ghana, and Germany reported similar difficulties accessing the platform’s core features.

Checks confirmed that the disruption affected both web and mobile versions, blocking basic activities such as posting updates, viewing timelines, and sending messages.

Latest in Series of Technical Disruptions

Monday’s outage adds to a growing list of technical challenges faced by the platform in recent months.

In November 2025, X and internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare experienced a separate service interruption that disrupted access for users in the United States, India, and Nigeria.

That incident also prevented users from loading feeds and interacting normally on the platform.

Despite recurring technical issues, X remains one of the world’s most widely used social networking platforms, serving millions who rely on it for news, business engagement, entertainment, and real-time communication.

Concerns Grow Among Users

The latest downtime has sparked renewed concerns among users, particularly businesses, journalists, and digital creators who depend on the platform for outreach and live updates.

Industry observers note that prolonged outages can impact advertising revenue, brand engagement, and information dissemination, especially in regions where the platform serves as a primary news source.
