International Energy Insurance Plc MD Olasupo Sogelola Resigns

International Energy Insurance Plc (IEI) has announced the resignation of its Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olasupo Sogelola, effective 12 November 2025.

In a notice to Nigerian Exchange Limited, shareholders and the investing public, the company disclosed that Sogelola has stepped down from his role as MD/CEO of the insurance firm.

Following his resignation, Executive Director, Technical, Dr Joyce Odiachi, has been appointed Acting Managing Director/CEO, pending the appointment of a substantive helmsman for the company.

The transition places Odiachi in charge of steering the company’s operations in the interim as the board initiates the process of selecting a new chief executive to lead International Energy Insurance Plc into its next phase.

Mr. Olasupo Sogelola who has held the position since January 2023 is a seasoned executive and chartered insurer with over 30 years of experience in the insurance industry. In the role, He was recognized with the “Transformative CEO of the Year” award for returning the company to profitability at the Businessday BAFI Awards for 2024.

Before that, he was an Executive Director, Technical & Operations, at Tangerine General Insurance Ltd (formerly Law Union & Rock Plc). His career also includes significant time at FBN Insurance Limited, where he was part of the start-up team and rose to Head of Brokers & Public Sector, even serving as the acting Managing Director of FBN General Insurance Limited from December 2015 to April 2016.
