Kenyan President William Ruto has declared a seven-day period of national mourning and a state funeral following the passing of opposition leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday.
In a statement, Ruto hailed Odinga as “Kenya’s foremost statesman and one of Africa’s greatest sons,” describing him as “a giant of democracy, a fearless freedom fighter, and a tireless warrior of good governance.”
As a gesture of respect, President Ruto announced the postponement of all his public engagements during the mourning period.
