The West African Examinations Council (WAEC), Nigeria, has released the results of the 2025 Computer-based West African Senior School Certificate Examination (CB-WASSCE) for Private Candidates, First Series. The gender breakdown shows 4,384 males (48.42%) and 4,670 females (51.58%), indicating a slightly higher female participation rate. Performance Statistics

Out of the 9,054 candidates who sat the exam, 3,388 (37.42%) achieved credit and above in a minimum of five subjects, with or without English Language and/or Mathematics. More specifically, 2,441 candidates (26.96%) obtained credit and above in at least five subjects, including both English Language and Mathematics. This group comprised 1,291 males (52.89%) and 1,150 females (47.11%).
Comparatively, the percentage of candidates achieving credit and above in five subjects, including English and Mathematics, was 23.99% in 2023 and 30.95% in 2024. This year’s figure of 26.96% reflects a marginal decline of 3.99%, signaling a slight dip in overall performance for this category.
Special Needs Candidates
WAEC demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity by accommodating 25 candidates with special needs. This included six visually challenged individuals, one candidate with impaired hearing, and six albinos. All were provided with adequate support during the examination, ensuring equal opportunities for success. Results Processing and Withheld Results
Of the total candidates, 8,651 (95.55%) have had their results fully processed and released. However, 403 candidates (4.45%) still have some subjects pending due to errors attributable to them. Additionally, the results of 56 candidates (0.62%) have been withheld due to alleged examination malpractice.
