Unilever Nigeria Plc has reported a sharp rebound in profitability for the 2025 financial year, with profit after tax rising to ₦32.20 billion, more than double the ₦15.14 billion posted in 2024.
Revenue climbed significantly to ₦214.30 billion, a 43.4% increase year-on-year, as the company leveraged strong brand equity in its Foods, Beauty & Wellbeing, and Personal Care segments. The topline expansion translated into gross profit of ₦89.53 billion, up 62.3%, indicating improved pricing power and better cost absorption despite inflationary pressures.
Operating efficiency was a major driver of earnings growth. Operating profit surged 129.9% to ₦42.21 billion, while profit before tax rose to ₦51.73 billion, reflecting reduced finance costs and tighter expense controls. Earnings per share also increased to ₦5.60, compared to ₦2.64 in the previous year, underscoring stronger shareholder value creation.
The company’s balance sheet strengthened materially, with total equity rising to ₦107.46 billion and cash reserves expanding to ₦110.75 billion, up from ₦68.44 billion. This liquidity position provides headroom for continued investment in supply chain optimization, innovation, and distribution expansion.
Management attributed the performance to strategic execution across multiple fronts, including increased local sourcing—now exceeding 60% of raw materials—digital transformation initiatives, and route-to-market enhancements. These measures helped mitigate foreign exchange volatility and input cost pressures, key risks in Nigeria’s operating environment.
The Board has proposed a final dividend of approximately ₦18.7 billion, signaling confidence in cash flow stability and rewarding shareholders after a year of strong earnings recovery.
