Olivier Buyoya has been appointed as the International Finance Corporation (IFC)’s new Division Director for Nigeria and Central Africa, where he is expected to deliver financial and advisory solutions to support private-sector development and inclusive growth in the region.
He is an experienced IFC official having worked with the body for close to fifteen years in multiple positions covering West and Central Africa.
Solid IFC Experience
Before his latest appointment, he served as Regional Director, West Africa between 2022 and 2026 domiciled in Dakar, Senegal. He was also Country Manager for Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Guinea, Mali, Niger Liberia and Sierra Leone between March 2019 and and November 2022.
Olivier Buyoya also had a stint as Resident Representative for Guinea between February 2017 and March 2019, where he oversaw IFC’s investment and advisory activities in Guinea.
In 2014, he served as IFC’s Regional Head of Trade Finance, Sub-Saharan Africa, a position he held till February 2017 as well as serving as a Senior Trade Finance Officer between 2011 and 2014.
He began his career as a Relationship Manager – Corporate & Institutional Banking at BNP Paribas Fortis between 2004 and 2008.
