Load Shedding: Eko Electric Reduces Electricity Supply to Ikoyi, VI As it Repairs Ajah-Alagbon Line

Staggered Power Supply to Continue Till Maintenance is Concluded

Eko Electric Load shedding

Eko Electric has revealed reasons for the current load-shedding arrangement in Ikoyi, Victoria Island, Oniru, and its environs which has led to the staggered power supply in the affected areas.

Reasons For Load Shedding Arrangement

The current load shedding in the affected areas is said to be due to ongoing maintenance works on the Ajah – Alagbon 330kv line which supplies electricity to the affected areas.

This arrangement is expected to continue until the maintenance works being carried out on the transmission line is complete and supply is restored to full capacity.

What is Load Shedding

Load shedding is an arrangement carried out by Distribution companies to prevent the power grid or power source from overloading.

This load management mechanism, works by rotating power outages or reducing power consumption from primary sources until demand decreases and more capacity becomes available.

This is not the first time the area has suffered blackout as in 2017, the areas witnessed a Five-day power outage.
