The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has declared that Nigerian tertiary institutions failing to submit their matriculation lists for the 2022/2023 sessions will be denied admission approvals for 2024/2025.

Registrar Prof. Is-haq Oloyede announced persistent non-compliance from some schools, with several not submitting any lists in the past three academic years.

Speaking during a meeting with Admissions Desk Officers (ADOs), Prof. Oloyede described the refusal to forward matriculation lists as “absurd and unacceptable.”

He ordered that defaulting institutions should have no admissions approved in the coming sessions, though some concessions were given for ongoing 2024 admission processes.

To enforce the policy, JAMB will publish adverts in major newspapers warning non-compliant schools.

Admissions Desk Officers have been instructed to implement the directive strictly, ensuring that all lists are processed through the official system.

The move aligns with JAMB’s broader effort to automate and safeguard the National Matriculation List (NML) via the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS).

The NML confirms students’ admission status and is also a requirement for institutions aiming to compete for the National Tertiary Admission Performance-Merit Award (NATAP-M Award).

In February, JAMB raised alarm over institutions admitting students with fraudulent Advanced Level results, sometimes outside CAPS entirely.

Prof. Oloyede stressed that every admission must pass through CAPS to guarantee verification, transparency, and the integrity of Nigeria’s tertiary education admissions.

JAMB’s investigations revealed forged results being proposed on CAPS, as well as admissions conducted entirely off-platform.

The warning also extends to Computer-Based Test (CBT) Centres, which must strictly follow official registration rules.
