GOtv Brings Festive Fun to Lagos Streets with Carnival-Style Roadshow Ahead of AFCON

Crowds across Ikeja, Ojuelegba, Yaba, and CMS enjoy dancers, drummers, and the iconic GOtv gorilla mascot as decoder sales surge ahead of the holiday season.

GOtv Nigeria Kicks Off Festive Season with Carnival-Style Roadshow Across Lagos

Digital-to-Home (DTH) television provider GOtv Nigeria launched its end-of-year campaign with a lively carnival-style roadshow on Friday. It drew crowds across key parts of Lagos and boosted decoder sales ahead of the festive season.

Roadshow Brings Entertainment to the Streets

The procession began at the Ikeja BRT Park and moved through neighborhoods including Maryland, Ojuelegba, Tejuosho, Yaba, Oyingbo, and CMS. It concluded at the Eko Hotel Roundabout. GOtv Nigeria’s festive season roadshow was characterized by dancers, drummers, branded performers, and GOtv’s iconic gorilla mascot. This provided an entertaining spectacle for residents.

For many Lagosians, the roadshow offered both enjoyment and an opportunity to reconnect with GOtv’s services or upgrade ahead of December’s busy viewing period, as GOtv Nigeria kicks off the city-wide festival.

Customers Embrace the Festive Spirit

A mechanic at the Ikeja stop shared how the roadshow prompted him to purchase a new decoder. “My old decoder got damaged some months ago, and I kept getting messages to renew. With AFCON coming, I decided to buy another one today. I want to enjoy all the matches. I do not want to miss any game,” he said.

At Ojuelegba, a trader noted the lively atmosphere: “The dancing gorilla made me laugh. It scared me a bit at first, but it was fun to see. I bought a GOtv decoder because my children will be at home this December, and I want them to have something to watch.”

Across multiple stops, residents highlighted the importance of staying connected during the festive season, underscoring the impact of the GOtv Nigeria carnival-style roadshow in Lagos.

Marketing Push Ahead of AFCON and Festive Programming

Tope Oshunkeye, Head of Marketing at MultiChoice Nigeria, said the roadshow aimed to bring the excitement of the season directly to communities.

“This period brings football, family moments, and entertainment together, and today’s roadshow is just the beginning of several activities as we move toward the festive peak and the AFCON tournament,” he said.

Friday’s activation is the first in a nationwide series scheduled to run through December. It combines entertainment, community engagement, and on-ground visibility as GOtv builds momentum. This leads to one of the biggest viewing periods of the year.
