Erelu Angela Adebayo has resigned her position as a Non-Executive Director on the Board of Meyer Plc, effective from 17th April 2026.
Erelu Angela Adebayo is a Nigerian business leader, philanthropist, and former First Lady of Ekiti State, serving from 1999 to 2003 during the administration of her husband, Niyi Adebayo.
Born on September 23, 1958, she was educated in the United Kingdom and later obtained a degree in Social Science from the University of Ibadan, an MBA from the University of Lagos, and a Master of Philosophy in Land Economy from the University of Cambridge.

Extensive Corporate Career
She has built an extensive career in banking and real estate, holding senior leadership roles across major institutions. She has served as a Non-Executive Director at United Bank for Africa, Chairman of Afriland Properties Plc, and the first female Chairman of WEMABOD Estates.
Her influence also extends to the capital market, where she was a member of the council of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (now NGX Group), contributing to corporate governance and financial sector development in Nigeria. She was recently appointed as Nigeria’s Ambassador-designate to Portugal.
In addition to her executive and governance roles, Erelu Angela Adebayo has served on several notable boards and affiliations, including the Aliko Dangote Foundation, Meyer Plc, and the Women at Risk International Foundation, reflecting her strong involvement in both corporate and humanitarian initiatives.
Beyond business, she is widely recognized for her philanthropic work and commitment to social development. She founded the Erelu Adebayo Foundation to support vulnerable communities and established the Erelu Adebayo Children’s Home in Iyin-Ekiti.
