MTN Champs season 3 continues with the Lagos continental relays which kicked off today. Speaking at the press conference, the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), Onyinye Ikenna-Emeka opened the briefing saying, “MTN Champs is a platform that continues to grow, transform and inspire the future of athletes and athletics in Nigeria. At MTN, we remain committed to supporting the dreams and aspirations of Nigeria, not only through innovative products, but involvement in socially-impactful initiatives especially in football and athletics.”

The Continental Relays of the MTN Champs season 3 entered day 1 of the competitions with a flag-off ceremony at the Yabatech Sports Complex on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
In attendance was the Director General of the Lagos States Sports Commission (LSSC), Lekan Fatodu, representing the governor of Lagos state, His Excellency Babajide Sanwo-Olu. Five-time Olympic champion, Mary Onyali, led the dignitaries at the event in a flag walk around the stadium, and social media influencer and advocate, Flag Boi,led the competing schools in a march past.

The Lagos continental relays drew 2,505 registered athletes, with 6,298 event entries from 155 secondary schools, with 1,598 male athletes and 907 female athletes. It will happen across 2 venues: the Yabatech Sports Complex and the UNILAG stadium from April 9 to April 12.
