An Appeal Court sitting in Calabar has upheld the conviction of Prof. Peter Ogban for manipulating and announcing falsified results in the 2019 Akwa Ibom North-West Senatorial District election, in favor of Senator President Godswill Akpabio.
Prof. Egban, who was then a lecturer in the department of Soil Physics at the University of Calabar, served as the returning officer in the said election, which Senator Godswill Akpabio controversially won.
In a ruling delivered on Wednesday, affirmed the earlier judgment of the High Court in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, which found Ogban guilty of electoral fraud after he was prosecuted by the then Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of INEC in Akwa Ibom State, Barrister Mike Igini.
