Airtel Africa plc has disclosed that Airtel Africa Mauritius Limited, a person closely associated with Sunil Bharti Mittal, has acquired 20 million ordinary shares at £1.42 per share. The transaction, conducted on 6 March 2025 on the London Stock Exchange (XLON), amounted to £28.44 million. The acquisition was executed on an upfront purchase basis with a VWAP adjustment.
Airtel Africa Mauritius Limited (AAML), a subsidiary of Bharti Airtel Limited, continues to consolidate its stake in Airtel Africa plc, reflecting strong confidence in the company’s growth prospects. With this transaction, AAML’s ownership in Airtel Africa strengthens, reinforcing Bharti Airtel’s long-term commitment to the African telecommunications and mobile money market.
