What the Accounts Director Will Do
The Accounts Director will take overall responsibility for the financial management framework of the organisation and help ensure sustainable growth and profitability.
Key duties include:
- Supervising the daily operations of the Accounts and Finance Department.
- Developing financial strategies that support the company’s wider business objectives.
- Managing budgets, forecasts and long-term financial plans.
- Preparing quarterly financial reports and insights for the Board and Executive Management.
- Ensuring compliance with applicable tax laws, statutory requirements and international accounting standards across the Group.
- Establishing and monitoring effective internal financial controls.
- Coordinating external audits and regulatory reviews.
- Supervising financial activities covering accounts, profit and loss, projects, contracts, services and maintenance.
- Improving receivables collection and cash-flow management.
- Reviewing ledger reconciliations and strengthening accounting processes.
- Identifying financial risks and developing appropriate mitigation measures.
- Conducting financial reviews to identify opportunities for reducing costs and increasing revenue.
- Managing relationships with banks, auditors, regulators, investors and other financial stakeholders.
- Negotiating financing arrangements, credit facilities and banking charges.
- Representing the organisation during financial discussions with the Board and external partners.
- Leading, mentoring and developing members of the Accounts and Finance team.
- Reviewing and communicating departmental standard operating procedures and best practices.
- Promoting accountability, innovation and continuous improvement within the finance function.
Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities
The successful candidate will also be expected to support the organisation’s health, safety and environmental objectives.
This includes ensuring that financial decisions take account of sustainability, climate-related considerations, waste reduction and energy efficiency, while promoting a strong OHSE culture across the organisation.
Requirements for the Accounts Director Role
Applicants are expected to have an MBA or MSc in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
Professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA or CFA will be an advantage.
Candidates should also demonstrate:
- Strong experience in corporate finance, investment analysis and financial risk management.
- Extensive knowledge of tax legislation, statutory requirements and corporate governance.
- In-depth knowledge of IFRS and GAAP.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and ERP systems.
- Experience using SAP S/4HANA.
- Strong strategic and financial leadership capabilities.
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder-management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience managing complex financial structures and operations across multiple departments.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, particularly for Board-level reporting.
- Proven experience leading teams and implementing organisational change.
- The ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment.
French-language proficiency will be an added advantage.
Salary and Benefits
