Nigeria has emerged winners of the Women’s U-17 World Cup after defeating Japan by 2 goals to 1 in Morrocco.
Goals by Awawu Bashiru and Oluebube Umejiaku were enough to see Nigeria over the line despite a late consolation goal by Japan.
Nigeria becomes the first African Country to win the Women’s U-17 World Cup and the first African nation to hold age grade titles in both men’s and women’s football.
