Alpha Morgan Capital Managers Ltd has announced an opening for a mid-level accountant in Lagos, seeking a qualified professional with experience in accounting, financial reporting and regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, reconciling bank and customer accounts, processing financial transactions and supporting the preparation of periodic financial reports.
Other responsibilities include preparing monthly statutory and tax filings, including Value Added Tax (VAT), Pay-As-You-Earn (PAYE) and withholding tax returns, as well as assisting with the preparation of management accounts, budgets and financial forecasts.
The role also requires the accountant to prepare and submit periodic returns to the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and other relevant regulatory bodies. The successful candidate will additionally support the preparation of Currency Transaction Reports (CTR), Funds Transfer Reports (FTR) and other financial reports required by management and regulatory authorities.
The accountant would also support internal and external audit exercises by providing financial information, schedules, reconciliations and other requested documentation.
The position involves monitoring actual financial performance against approved budgets, identifying significant variances and ensuring that accounting records comply with applicable accounting standards, company policies and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Applicants must possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related discipline. Professional certification from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) is also required.
The company is seeking candidates with five to 10 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a financial company or a similar environment.
Other requirements include strong attention to detail, a high level of accuracy, organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
