Former Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, is dead, according to multiple sources close to his family. “Uduaghan is no more; he is dead,” one of the sources said.
Uduaghan, who governed Delta State from 2007 to 2015, passed away on Monday morning, according to a statement signed by Toju Anire Uduaghan on behalf of the family.
“It is with hearts weighed down by immeasurable grief and profound sorrow that we announce the passing to glory of our beloved Father, Brother, Uncle, and Patriarch, His Excellency, Dr. Chief Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, former Governor of Delta State, who departed this world on the morning of 19th October 2026,” the statement read.

The development comes months after the former governor’s family dismissed reports circulating on social media that he had died.
In June, false reports claiming that Uduaghan had passed away spread across Facebook and WhatsApp, triggering concern among residents and political stakeholders in Delta State.
The reports began circulating on Wednesday, June 26, prompting his media aide, Henry Unini, to publicly debunk the claims and assure the public that the former governor was alive.
The media aide acknowledged at the time that the former governor had been experiencing health challenges but maintained that he was receiving medical attention.
“It is now common knowledge that Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan has been sick, but he is receiving proper medical care,” Unini said at the time.
