The United Kingdom government on Tuesday announced a £100 million ($135 million) contribution to support Ukraine’s air defence capabilities as Kyiv prepares for another winter amid its ongoing war with Russia.
The funding will form part of a NATO programme designed to provide additional military support to Ukraine, according to the UK Ministry of Defence.
The package will include Patriot air-defence missiles, alongside air-defence interceptors, large-calibre artillery rounds and drones.
The British government said the support is intended to bolster Ukraine’s ability to defend itself against aerial attacks during the winter months.
The announcement comes as Ukraine continues to rely heavily on Western military assistance to maintain its air-defence network and protect critical infrastructure from Russian strikes.
The UK has remained one of Ukraine’s major military supporters since Russia launched its full-scale invasion in 2022, providing weapons, training and financial assistance.
The latest commitment adds to Western efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s ability to intercept missiles and drones and sustain its defence capabilities through another difficult winter.
