British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran has described Burnaboy as the heaviest weed smoker he has ever seen stating most parts of the singer’s recording sessions were done while smoking weed.
Speaking in a recent interview, Sheeran said “There’s an artist that I work quite a lot with called Burna Boy and I would say that’s the most I’ve ever seen anyone ingest weed.
“And I work, as I said, ten to five and he came to the studio and I had a gig later on at night and it was very much the studio doors closed and just smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke, smoke,” Sheeran recalled.
Sheeran and Burna Boy have built a close musical relationship over the years. Burna Boy featured on Sheeran’s 2021 hit “Own It” alongside Stormzy, while Sheeran later appeared on Burna Boy’s 2022 single “For My Hand,” one of the standout tracks from the Grammy-nominated album Love, Damini.
Cannabis use has long been associated with parts of the global music industry, with several artists openly discussing its place in their creative process. Speaking about his smoking habit during an interview on Home Grown Radio (Los Angeles) in 2021, Burnaboy said “It’s not a zero tolerance. It’s like everybody does it, but no one wants to be the one that is seen with it. It’s just kind of hypocritical out there. Everybody smokes weed.”
The Grammy award winning artiste is almost always seen with weed during studio appearances and several outings.
